Task # 7

Can you...

Define your dream?

We all have goals and dreams with horses. However, if you can have a clear picture of your dream, not only will you know when you've arrived, you'll also have an easier time plotting your path to get there. So... What is your ultimate horsemanship goal? Dream big, and remember that no one can limit you except yourself! If you can believe it you can achieve it!

You don't need to post your dream here if you don't want to,
but let us know that you're working on it!

  1. One thing I know for sure, is to be able to identify horsenalities. It's so easy for me to just stick with the one I've got, LBE/I, but there will always be moments of RB and I need to have more understanding of those areas.

    So, KNOW MY HORSENALITIES.

I don't know what my BIG DREAM is yet. Since lola is still not back to her ol' self, determining that right now is hard. Right now, it's staying motivated. I'll get back to you on this.

  2. My big dream is to be able to ride with balance and no brace with a true partner. It does not have to bareback and bridleless - but it should be very close to that. So it's start with the smaller dreams and work up towards the big dream.
It will be slow now that winter has arrived. I don't have an indoor arena to work in, so it will be mostly friendly game this winter and review my DVD's and savvy club vault.

  3. Oh - this one is hard for me. I was living the dream with my Fjord horse and then he passed away. I am starting over - which is emotionally difficult to do.

So? my smaller dream right now is to mentally connect with my new partner, Pip (who I have had for a month now in my care) and develop a rapport with him. I have to let go of the past and look to the future with my new partner and to be there for Pip. Pfff - that was hard to type out.

  4. My dream... is to go to the Parelli ISC next summer (I leave in 200 days) and not come home. I want to learn from the best and learn to become a true partner for my girls. I want to hone my skills so it takes me half the time it does now to find the solution to a problem. I want to learn how to correctly develop young horses so they can be the best partners for their humans. I want my girls to run up to me and to be able to play at liberty whenever I can, where ever I want to. I want my girls to love me as much as I love them!

  5. Ok, so I'd avoided commenting on this because the OCD in me wanted to really write something good and complete, but the reality is that I still haven't made the time to do that yet. So, bullet points will have to do:

** Riding to music. Not just having music playing the in the background, but actually having a close enough partnership with my horse that we can dance TO the music as I see us doing in my head.

** Demonstrations of all four savvies. Again, having a close enough partnership with my horse(s) and enough confidence in our relationship to be able to do demonstrations in front of a crowd. In all four savvies, but especially at Liberty and Freestyle. Right now this is a big RB area for me. Even if I never do it in front of a crowd other than my family, I'd like to know that I could!

** Get at least one horse of each horsenality through Level 4. I would also like to include a western-type horse, an english-type horse, and a driving horse (or team) in that goal.

** Build "Someday Farm", our dream home, and a place where savvy friends can come and play and learn and relax and enjoy their horses among friends. This has started with the purchase of 80 acres last fall and will begin again this spring as we begin creating (in my opinion) the ultimate playground, and possibly building the barn. We hope to build a house and actually LIVE on the property in 2012, but will see how it goes. We'll for sure live there "someday"! ;)
